I wanna know about this LCD crap thats going on with the PSP.... Anyone know a forum that got some kind of proff that the psp samsung and china produced ones are of a lower quality then the japanese and sharp screens??? I was hopping not having to import it and not be hit by customs. Mainly because if i get it from expansys i can send it back to them if its got any dead pixels or anything wrong becomes aparent in the first 21 days... Still gonna call them up about warranty after that.
ive got the SHARP screen and its awesome... but have never seen another PSP to compare it with. Will be kinda cool to have a better version that my friends when the UK ones are released! )
Sharp make the best LCD screens out there so it's very likely that the Samsung ones will be of a lower quality. I know from looking at TFT monitors that all the Korean and Chinese ones look no where near as good as Sharp, Mitsubishi and even (to a certain point) Sony monitors. Personally I think that the Mitsubishi ones are better than sharp. They seem so much brighter. Still, I'm obviously in the minority :smt042 Yakumo
If Samsung made the GP32's screen (which is quite likely as they made numerous other components) I must say I am quite satisfied with it.
Yeah, totally true, except it's not. Samsung's the #1 producer of LCDs in the world, has a zero-dead-pixel policy in their home country (Sharp doesn't do this) and consistently makes top-rated LCDs. Check some PC review sites about Samsung displays: always first or second place. I've seen some pretty fake looking comparisons about samsung vs sharp. Samsungs are looking a little blue but have better low-end, the sharp is more vivid but has basically no dark greys. IF they're real, that is. I haven't seen an ounce of proof personally (not saying it ain't true...) that Sony's going to use Samsung screens at all. If I had a bunch of stock of PSPs this is exactly the rumor I'd start to clear them out. As for Sharp making the best, my 3 year old Toshiba phone has a better screen than my six month old V-601SH Sharp phone. Sharp makes good cheap screens, no doubt, but best? Nah. I bought a Mitsubishi monitor today 'cause it kicked the Sharp's ass in specs, price and showroom appearance. I'd have bought a Samsung if anyone in Japan carried 'em. =/
