I've picked up a new PSP GO nice and cheap the other day and I should have it in a couple of days. I have a few questions: 1). Are all versions of PSP GO firmware hackable to allow custom firmware? 2). Can these custom firmware options be switched off if I want to use my UK PSN ID on it? 3). What's the best range of emulators available for the PSP GO? Cheers! :encouragement:
look for LCFW (Light Custom FirmWare). Basically it's something that temporary patches the system loaded on RAM and goes away when you power cycle the machine.
Slightly outdated, buddy as Light CFW boot applications are currently signed with keys that leaked from the PlayStation 3 system software. So they boot just like original games do. No exploitation required. HBL is being used currently only to boot copied PSP isos on the PS Vita.
i could of sworn HBL worked the same as LCFW it is cleared with a power cycle well learn something new lol
1- Hello GamerGuides, all PSP models (including the GO) are firmware hackable. In all 1000 and some 2000 models the CFW is installable as update and persist even the console is completely turned off. The later models, such as newer 2000, 3000, Go and E1000 (the cheaper european one) can't be hacked with the same installable method (will damage your console if you try the older models method). Instead there's a HEN (Homebrew Enabler) method, which uses a signed package to activate the custom firmware while the console is powered on or in stand-by, every time that you power on the console you must run this package to re-hack the console. There's a lots of HEN out there, but in my experience with the 3000 model I recommend "Pro", you can find more info here: http://code.google.com/p/procfw/wiki/Installation The installation don't have any damage or brick risk, but requires to stay on one of selected compatible official firmware versions. Just copy it to the memory and run from the XMB. 2- The HEN PRO method is not permanent, and keep the original firmware when you turn on the console. However if you want to use PSN you must use the latest firmware version (6.60 and its respective PRO). 3- There's good emulators for this systems: Atari 2600, NES, SNES, GameBoy, GameBoy Color, Game Boy Advance, Sega Master System, Sega Mega Drive, PlayStation, and some old computers. For a complete list and downloads check http://psp.scenebeta.com/psp/emuladores (in spanish, use google translator) I hope you'll find useful and understable my post, my english isn't perfect because it's not my native language. Greetings
