Right in the middle of my game the screen on the PSP go suddenly goes black. I know it's still working because after resetting I still hear the sounds of the XMB after resetting but still nothing. Does anybody know what's the matter? I would fix it myself but I have not so steady hands.

^^ just to ask the obvious, as it catches me out on occasion.
have you tried holding the backlight button for at least ten seconds?
    ...
you can disable psp screen for music or when connected up to the TV, same above, but in reverse. (not counting embedded psp screen saver)
    ...
    some search results, may help?
    all the best! :smile-new:

if worst comes to the worst and you can't fix it/afford to, get a psp go Y.Pb.Pr. cable for the tv so you've still got some use out of it. (remember, when disabling/re enabling screen and backlight brightness and tv output, that screen button is vital. when leaving psp plugged ito screen but power off console, i have to hold that backlight button to get psp go to re-output to tv. fuckin pain in the dick!)

Oh well, I guess I have to bone up on fixing these gadgets. I hate how they're so freakin' tiny.

Lets hope its not the wear and tear on the display ribbon on the sliding PSP go that is causing this issue..

More than likely it's the lcd flex assembly. The Sony Xperia Play (PSP PHONE) had this same fault (well pretty much all slide phones do but the play and go are very similar).
When I worked in Sony SC this fault was the most common for the play, the other fault was the LCD it's self but not so common.

when you replace the flex (if that's the fault) put some lithium Grease on the flex where it bends and rubs against the chassis. Just be warned, the slide mechanisum is a bitch to work on...

    hope this helps
