I suspect that once they manage to construct a toolchain for the PSP and understand its internal workings things will be pretty good... As the PSP has USB2.0,transferring stuff to its memory for execution will be pretty fast....I think that's cool...
Good luck tracking down recordable UMDs though :smt017 Are you sure the PSP uses USB2? I thought Firewire would be more likely Rich
I suspect that homebrew is pretty much going to be impossible. Great, it was hard enough getting a GD burner, now we have to hunt down UMD burners.
I'm pretty sure that Sony or some other company will make something of an "NR reader" for the PSP, like there is for the GC.
assembler~ did you rember Hardware Laster emu? it alot dev also use that~ like, Mega CD emu Saturn dev dosc(it a cable direct to laser point),GameCube Disc EMU also have one hardware laser emu, XBOX,PSP is like PS2 DVD/CD EMU. use another device to local data . well. in world, it have "another Like GD-R Bruner"~~ just $200 :smt023 ~ which one burner can burn disc aftet close section data? and it use CAV mode to burn? and last data is use raw burn(GD-R also use raw to burn game data).....He He He Not hard to know which one burner~ :smt040
The PSP will be hacked. That is the law of consoles. It might take a while (like the GC) but eventually it will happen. Shame it's always with piracy in mind... oh well. But PSP could be the first handheld that requires a mod-chip or TSOP flash to get homebrew code working. Sony know bootleg UMDs or some other way of pirating games will occur so I'm sure there will be additional security in place.
