Dunno maybe if it was silver... Or white! Reminds me of the ipod for some reason.... maybe cos it looks like there is sort of a ipod perspex on the front! Paulo
Looks like it'll cost a fortune to me... At a wild guess, i expect it'll be waaay over £150 launch. Anyone know if theres anyway to write to the UMD's used, perhaps via the USB port or a seperate writer?
Well if its cheap enough I will get one to watch films on in work :smt023 Note the point with their display that will spell the end of the PSP (well legitimate game sales anyway): "PC to PSP"
It looks verry very fragile, i mean that huge screen is bound to be sratched to death and how the hell can you call something that big portable hell my gamgear is more portable than that, i think the DS is going to win this with ease.
I agree with you that it looks fragile (and the other hand the DS look strong rayer: ). I don't know if the DS will win easily, but the nintendo conference made me drool! rayer: rayer: rayer: It will be a good battle, but Nintendo started it winning. :smt023
I agree silverbolt, does look fragile, and huge (according to gamespot, 170mm x 74mm x 23mm). Also it looks as if the screen isn't protected by anything, which will increase its proneness to scratching, and neither is it sunk into the body. I think the PSP may not be the great success many are expecting, hoewever, i'm still not sure whether the DS will be any better...
But the DS games look like Saturn games... not normally a bad thing, but when the PSP games look like PS2 games... I know graphics arent everything, but to "Joe D. Average" he is going to look at the PSP which looks like a novelty soap bar, and the DS which looks like one of those interactive story books for 2 year olds... 1st point to Sony Gaming: DS looks like Saturn games, PSP looks like PS2 games, 2nd point to Sony I really wanted this to be better than I feared...
The US version will prob include more plastic. The "Japanese" PSX controllers are smaller than the US counterparts. :smt023
smaller you said??? :smt043 were you confused with xbox controllers? because they are already small in us! and i don't say this because i dislike sony or something like that! the are just small... lol
Err... Just me (had been having a discussion with Paulo about this too) but I think all the griping about the PSP being big is pretty ridiculous. According to the measurements, the PSP is going to be a little bit larger than an original GBA or a NGPC, but nowhere near as large as a Game Gear (which I would call large but still nowhere near unportable). And I mean come on, people deal with the Xbox controllers without too much grousing (jokes are now met with "But now there's the controller-S.... *mumble*which is only the size of the Dreamcast now.." ;-)). I'm not a diehard Sony fan (I was rooting for the DS until I saw the designs) but I mean heck if you're going to complain that something's big, then I should think the thing would be too large to fit in a cargo pocket or backpack pouch or something. Just my 2 cents tho.. EDIT: And due to the fact that I am a slow typist, the above post made it in before mine was done. I really hope a handheld is in the works from Sega (I'm a little skeptical on the lack of a light, but it can be done) but after the disappointment of the DS, I'm not holding my breath. :smt009
All these hand helds look nice, but to be honest, I just don't play them that much. I play my GBA on trips, and that's about it. I've got a stack of Famicom Minis that I've just not touched, and won't for a while. I'll probably buy one for the media aspect, but I won't be getting a ton of games, I'm sure.
I honestly don't think the PSP is that huge. It probably won't fit your pocket, but at least it has a nice widescreen. But I hope it fails anyway, so they don't have all the videogame market for themselves :smt040
