    Just saw this article:

Id go for the last package... but i doupt that its real... seeing as (not that i know of anyway) the camera and GPS stuff was not at TGS'04

What do you guys think the price will be?

   )

I think $199 is a fair price. But I guess it will be a little bit more, like $229. Very expensive indeed, but hopefully (as some rumours say) it won't have a $250+ or even a 300+ price tag. That's would be bad for the sales rates I'm afraid, especially when the Nintendo DS is only $149 (confirmed?).

havent got a clue what to believe, but at 199 I might actually consider picking one up at launch.

By the way: is the PSP gonna be region free or not? A few months ago I read something about this, but it believe it isn't confirmed (?). I was thinking about importing the PSP when it's got released in Japan, but hopefully it hasn't a region lock then.

$199 is a fair price, but then again, this is Sony we are talking about, add an extra $99 for the basic package and you will be more in their normal thinking.

Until Sony says something, don't count your chickens. I'm sure they're coming up w/ a way to make it cheaper to counter Nintendo, but haven't quite figured it out yet.

Yeah, by making the games cost twice as much as anyother system.

I wouodn't see why that would happen. Even though its propietary UMD is stil an optical media and thus cheaper than carts (which the DS will use) so there's no reason they would need to make the games expensive, but that's not to say they wouldn't.

We all though that games would be cheaper when games moved to CD but they weren't. Sony PS2 games were one of the first to start the 6800yen price point. Most Dreamcast / Saturn / PSX / N64 etc. games cost 5800yen. Sony could charge more because they knew they would sell. I can see them doing the same with the PSP. Loose money on the system but make it back on games. No way will the games be cheaper than a PS2 disc.

The camera (or at least a design) was at E3 2004 among the various peripheral on the PSP wall.
