She won't charge. No light, no nothing. Still got 5 mins battery time left. PSP1004 2.0Firmware. Any ideas? Tony
Sounds like the unit has some fuse blown on it / damage to the charging circuit, or the ac adapter is bad (never seen that). I don't have psp, but if they sell an aftermarket battery extender that can be charged externally, sort of like the snap on "handles" for gameboy. I'd get a voltmeter and test the adapter, or being lazy, buy one, try it, and if not the solution, return it. I'd buy a battery and try that, if that doesn't work, return that as well. Lastly, I'd buy a new psp and try to swap the insides, but I haven't seen how the security measures are (sticker and special screws I bet). If it's damaged from ESD, no warranty will cover it unless it's a store "extended" one. Lastly you could buy a psp with a broken screen for parts and fix it that way.
Is your Wi-Fi switch on? The PSP won't charge if it is. If that isn't the problem, I have no idea what it could be.
Possible faulty battery - mine acted funny, not holding charge.....bought a new one....few days later the old one worked... Find someone with any PSP and try their battery in your machine.
Was a faulty charger. Thank for all the replies guys, one more reason why this is the best gaming forum
Good to hear you figured out the issue. Did you get a Sony replacement or after market, just curious? Damn Sony and their cheapo adapters. :smt009 I'm able to properly charge my unit with the Wifi enabled. Have you had a bad experience with this technique? ^_^_^
I've never had any trouble with my PSP actually. I had just heard that the Wi-Fi switch being on was the cause of some people's charging problems. I tested it out before posting that, and sure enough, it wouldn't charge with the switch on. Maybe it's just a problem with early models or firmware? I have a US v1.50.
Yes, I think the firmware version is probably the key. The fw I am currently running is the newest v.2.00. I have to take a look at the list of things this fw may have fixed. ^_^_^
