Image here. If you can't read the title it's Capcom Monster Hunter Freedom Unite Trade Demo. What exactly is this?
It's the functional equivalent of a European Dreamcast "white label." Sony uses the term "Trade Demo" to mean a production disc that is created for the purposes of being given away. If you purchase a set of Trade Demo discs from Sony (for any platform) you do not have to pay the licensing fee that applies to retail runs. Trade Demo discs have a fairly uniform look that was established in the PSone days and continues on. Trade Demo discs are *usually* identical to retail discs in terms of content, although they can sometimes be very late final beta code depending on when the publisher had them pressed and for what reason. Trade Demo discs will always run in a retail console. That said, despite the comparison to the Euro DC white labels, Sony trade demos are nowhere near as common. They were rarely distributed to the press and production numbers are low. As a result, they make fine collectibles. -hl718
