Does anyone know how to create images that are able to be used via the TT/DT's DVD drive?

@the7thchild I could have sworn you've posted somewhere that this is possible without using official sony tools? Which I don't have other than the UMD Video Tools. Cheers.

If you want to use the DVD drive you have to convert an ISO or whatever you're trying to run into a master disk. It's a pretty long process, and I don't quite remember the steps. I know it is possible though.

I've got a good guess of how it might be possible, but would rather someone chimed in and saved me wasting a bunch of DVD-R's. :)

EDIT: Just had a sleuth through @the7thchild 's posts. If you see this could you please re-upload your templates from your DTP-H1500 Testing Tool - DVD Drive thread, or chime in with whatever method you currently use! Cheers.

Is there? I'll have a look into it, but seems odd that there would be!

You need the umdgen tool which is part of the Game_MasterDisc package (the latest version being 6.3.0) included in the sdk tools (you can download it off the devnet) it has a few restrictions, for instance it forces you to use a BOOT.BIN in decrypted prx format.

There is also an unofficial version of umdgen but it only creates a USER_L0.IMG format file (basically, an iso) so you need to do some tweeking to get that to work on a burned dvd, but the format itself is proper.

Any chance of a PM of the umdgen from the SDK tools, if you have it? Would be greatly appreciated.

The only link to UMD generation tools that are in that thread (that I can find) are the tools to master UMD Video images, not game master discs.

Was hoping @mathieulh could help out, as i'm pretty sure PSP stuff is able to be shared now. Not that I feel entitled, just as long as he wants to share of course. :) no problem if he doesn't feel comfortable.

Unfortunately I do my best not to share Sony copyrighted materials on public forums as that would give them materials to go against me so I rather stay on the right side of the law.

I am sorry that more tools have not been made available to the public over the years, especially now that the PSP has reached its end of life.

Is there any way to launch a game off the memory stick like on a CFW but on a test/tool?

Yes but the package must be signed properly. By what I understood from the documentation, SONY had a server set up for allowing devs encoding packages for test builds. There were never any tool released for making them locally.

And I believe packages made for devkits work only on devkits. I am unsure if devkits also run retail packages as I never had a devkit.

Maybe @mathieulh can chime in on this one? He seems to have a wealth of knowledge on the PSP!

EDIT: Nevermind, figured out how to do it myself!

Pretty much exactly what I did. Your twitter post spurred me on to figure it out. :)
