Greetings folks, a while ago I remember seeing a mod that used a regular phat PSP where the guy had hijacked the output signals and sent them to a monitor via a DAC. IIRC they went out at a strange frequency (16hz?) so they needed a particular type of device but the picture was full screen and razor sharp.

Any of you lot know/remember this mod?

    Thanks

That is a very impressive mod, not the one I had in mind but very, very cool.

That looks familiar, I think it may be it. Any idea how I can access the rest of the thread/see pics?

    Cheers

Use the Wayback machine (I can't even get the Google thing to work)

But the device they are showing is called PSP2TV, you can also Google search for that and find pics of it. It was the one that actually tapped into the PSP motherboard to get a video signal.

There others, but they involved mounting a camera over the screen...

The PSPTV was a unique device in the pre-2000 era, but was quite inferior compared to component output on the 2000 and later that provided a pixel-accurate image.
I had one that I passed on to a friend years back, could possibly even reclaim it as I've more recently set him up with a PSPGO + wireless controller. the core circuit is a gloptop, so nothing much can be gleaned from that, but if HK add-on makers did it in 2006-7, i'm sure if there was enough motivation, it could be replicated as was done with the DS video out mod, but the bigger question is really- is it even necessary? the image quality was at best s-video, and there were vertical rows missing as part of the upscaling solution.
Sure, the ps2 controller option is nice, but a modded PSPGO, cradle, hdmi scaler, and ps3 controller pretty much blow it away.

    ^^ THAT!
all i'm missing is the dock, and i'm set! (in theory, shouldn't require it but the ca$h whore that are $ony HAD to omit the dc 5.5v input as separate)
got the Y.Pb.Pr, cable, ps3 pad bluetooth paired up to it...
AND my telly supports cross-hatch handling, so i don't require an video upscaler there! :cocksure:
    ..
agreed though, psp-N1001 w/dock, tv cable and ps3 pad is the shit!

you know, when the tv has options to grip the corners of the displayed image so one can stretch it to fit the screen! (coin-op setups use something similar)
    ..
it would have been easier if i said 'tv has upscaler support in-built'....(it's a failure in other areas, it's a sanyo)

    ^^ on the subject...
you'll know some tv's omit the true/FULL functions unless it's correct ir remote is with it!
this...thing i have won't do shit other than change channel and volume, IF the remote isn't used!
the tv has such a crap HID, i'm surprised they're still in business! (quality of image isn't bad, but it's NO 'bang & olufsen' that's for sure)
    ......
remember when ALL the ir remote buttons were on ALL tv sets just in case the ir remote was lost? those were the days when STANDARDS meant something! :(
