Surely to annoy anyone who had bought a replacement psp in lieu of their old one being bricked: http://www.qj.net/Noobz-C-D-release-Pandora-s-Battery-unbricker-for-all-PSPs/pg/49/aid/100579 Interestingly enough, this universal unbricker uses a battery for the process, it had been revealed before (though it was first thought a rumour) that Sony used a special battery to unbrick psp's Finally, we can lay to rest peoples concerns of "psp-homebrew" and "bricking" once and for all
Until PSP Slim & Lite, where the battery trick probably will no longer work. It's a damn shame people couldn't keep this under wraps until AFTER the PSP S&L was released.
I don't think it matters either way. The slim's new firmware will most defiantly wont have a hackable, nor homebrew enabled firmware on day one. It wouldnt have mattered either way
Sure it would, if on day one we had a way to reprogram/hack the firmware then you just have to wait until someone creates a custom FW. Instead now we have to wait for someone to figure out how to hack, then wait even longer for someone to produce a custom FW. Such a shame.
Can anyone link me to a post or something explaining the drama surrounding this? Seems some people leaked it early, now Dark_Alex and a few others are rather pissed at ps3news.com ??
0_o i also heard it was leaked early, but that was the end of that. I haven't heard anything regarding ps3news.com issues.
apparently there's some interesting news now With this unbricker, you can launch 1.5 firmware from the memory stick. So in theory then, that means, any psp, regardless of firmware (as long as the unbricker works, which it doesnt require a Custom Firmware) will launch 1.5 and be able to use homebrew. So, to sum things up. As long as you have one of these unbricker set-ups...then you can basically run homebrew (1.5 for now) on any psp, regardless of the systems firmware Edit: seems there's issues with it on the psp-slim
