I currently have a PSP 1001 and of course there's no video out for that model, and the screen on those are shit. Strains my eyes. So I'm currently thinking of a 2000 or which ever model has better video out. Not too sure how well the PSP outputs video or not, so I'm wondering what you guys think of it, before I go out looking for one. Factors I'm thinking about: - Output quality, how clear is it? - Sound Also any factors you may think is a negative.
2000 officially can't play PSP games on an SDTV. It needs 480p, not just component. 3000 improved the 480i support.
Some months ago a PSVita coder called Xmax Katsu claimed to develop a PSVita HDMI Output, HDMI, not the USB expensive shit, but if i'm not wrong he will not publish it. Fake? Who knows. In PSVita you can play every PSP game using TN-V, with much better image quality, two analog nubs, touch hotkeys and more. You can wait and buy a PSVita instead, if this mod gets published.
interesting, though i can't see how the item wouldn't be a usb OR custom cable for that proprietary socket on top of vita! (threw mine in a corner at ofw 2,61 and ignored it since, waste of money) if there's a cable for that, i may dig out my vita again, MAY? (if it's usb, it's a dock and cable job like the N-1001, or could be a coupling for the vita proprietary socket, next to their STUPIDLY placed copyright STOLEN SD-card looking socket behind tabs that are so flush to the POS, you have to GOUGE em out with a BLADE!) .. DON'T be fooled by the hype folks, vita is a LONG way off from becoming 'notable' in the same vein as psp...for purposes! .. @ Lum. YES. it does. i have a 3k hooked up to the idiot box just for dpad games! great resolution! [edit] typo
Think of the customer service complaints Sony must've got from Americans that found out buying component still wouldn't make the 2k play all games on their TV.
^^ i can only imagine. luckily, dodged that bullet this side! wanted to get a 2k for the 'pandora' effect like the 1k series, but what you described was the sum-up NOT to get one! just as well, there's more 3k's out there than most others (not counting 1k's, they still hang on, with good reason) [edit] VITAL INFO! by default, the psp3k/N1 DOESN'T fully fit image to screen when using actual psp roms/homebrew, for normal video and psx converts, you can't beat it! make sure.... 1, the screen has the ability to adjust picture to fit, MANUALLY! (most screens don't, sadly) 2, in the event of a failed option one, you'll require an intermediary such as a scan-doubler/upscalar of some description, bloody pricey indeed! so for actual psp content on the big-screen, the image is reduced by 1/3rd as default! (large black border, image is centered)
Ensure your TV has no problem with progressive 480p over component. Thats the main thing. I originally tried the TV out using a RGB scart to an SD TV and it didn't work. In fact the composite, s-video and scart cables should never have been sold in my opinion. They are near pointless and just caused a whole ton of confusion and incompatibility. If anyone has ever had success with those cables I would be interested to hear about it. I think the 3000 series has the most fully featured video out. Like Amiga1200 mentioned, they output the PSP's native resolution (480x272) pixel perfect, but its in a larger 480p frame. You need a TV with a decent zoom or an external processor to get rid of the borders. Also there is some incompatibility between video out cables, 2000 and 3000 can share the same, the Go is different and I'm not sure about the final N series (PSP street). I would be very surprised if sound quality output between 2000 and 3000 is different, but I have never personally tested. Or do you mean the internal speakers? Only advantage to a 2000 is that it can permanently have a custom firmware loaded.
