Hey there, since the first mini went off today I wanted to do a little comparison my PSP 3000 with an 1080p upscaler via HDMI VS. The PS3 with Mini.

Both games went trought my receiver with no filter or upscaling option activated and to my 65" inches plasma.

The pictures were taken with an Iphone but I believe the result is pretty clear.

    [TECHNICAL INFO you may skip]

The PSP lacks a pixel, it's not 16:9 perfect. For that reason if you use the PSP cable (composite or component) it will give you a tiny screen in the middle of your television. The upscaler used here has a zoom function made specifically for the PSP. It will zoom your game to the entire area of the TV.

You can see this on the PS3 the game doesn't output in the entire screen and that's the reason

    [End of technical info]

    Here are the pictures:

**one thing that is only visible with a video is that while running the psp game via the upscaler the flickering and the pixel movement are constant. Zack's hair looses it's edges all the time.

Here's how the game will output without the zoom function:

It maybe hard to see the border of the TV

The problems still persist without the zoom.

Hope this seems interesting to many of you :)

The PS3 looks way better in the first 2 images. The PSP looks really blocky like a PlayStation game. The close ups tell a different story though. Ar you sure you have the right labels on them?

    Yeah, I'm sure.

The PSP is is really blurred. I believe that only happens in the menu of the game.

At the close up look at the X, it's formed by 5 dots, with the psp you see a blurred and faded x on the ps3 you see 5 dots.
    It's much more clear.

Interesting to see a PSP upscaled so heavily.

It looks to me that the upscaler has a VGA in for video source- is it VGA from the PSP somehow or did I miss something?

It's a DB9, it's just a plug from the outputted source of the PSP.

The pinout on the component/composite out is very strange to me and the only source I could find isn't reliable too.

    Y Pb Pr there :)

Wish I could find a pinout for the PSP Go. to make an adapter to use this upscaler on it.

PS3 Mini? Err does that mean you are somehow playing the game on the PS3 itself?(CFW with the PSP Emulator for minis?)

I tested only Final Fantasy Crisis Core and it's outstanding.

As far as I know a few games won't work but it seems a lot of them do.

I might have to look in to doing that with my PS3, the PS3 images look significantly better in your screenshots.

i've got an old Phat with YLOD that needs to get fixed. Maybe when I get it reballed I'll finally look into PS3 CFW. Would be neat to play around with
