Now PSTwo is out with no HDD support how do we play those titles supporting HDD? I do believe only one or two require HDD and the rest it's optional?

Sorry for my ignorance but I haven't got into PS2 quite lately. In fact I still don't have PS2 although been eyeing PSTwo lately... when it gets released here I might check it out given the price is right! :D

    TIA

FFXI is the only game that requires it. So if you want to play that on the PS2, get the older model or just don't get it.

its also speeds up load times in resident evil, hardly worth it so far at least. probably one of the least used peripherials ever

  4. Sony's statement concerning the HDD was something along the lines of, and I'm not kidding, "The users who want and will use HDD functionality in their games will probably have already purchased one."

This isn't to say that some enterpising group of hackers won't find a way to add support for USB drives, or even that Sony themselves won't release an official adaptor or something later on. It remains to be seen.

hmm... not surprising... SONY has the attitude of tug if you ask me. they may make nice products but their after service attitude is like don't waste my time you pin head. go and buy new SONY product rather than wasting our time... and I was like what the...???

anyway, let's see how much they will see PSTwo over here...

    cheers

well, on ps2ownz they where talking about PsTwo having an USB 2.0 port instead of 1.0 that of a normal ps2, and they also said that a company was working on making 1 in around 2 months :D :smt083

The 2.0 usb statement has been proven false by gamespot.

i highly doublt thell be much support for the hdd. ff is probably the only thing thatll use it. probably because creating it was the only way to get ff to run properly. all the other features were just afterthoughts.

have you seen this pstwo in person? its really slick. about as big as a dvd case, maybe a little thicker.

    and no i-link support eather.

I think some games will continue to use the HDD, games like metal Gear Solid 3, and GT4 have HDD support or so it is rumoured, sony are also rel;easing this ultra high capacity memory card for the ps2 after GT$ so games that use that will most probably be able to use the HDD as well, let's hope so anyway as alot of people have bought into it with Final Fantasy 11.

    What kinda size?

  12. If this new memory card can handle HDD data, surely it won't be too long before a PStwo compatible HDD comes out, that connects via a cable with hardwired memcard jobbie?

Sony haven't announced the size of the card yet but as GT4 is approaching rapidly, they surely will soon.

It has been discussed at several of the press showings of the game but since they have removed the online part for the time being maybe they have removed this support from this version of the game cause it was for online swapping of cars amongst other things.

Come to think of it, that would be great if $ony could make a 1 GB memory card (i.e. a small HD compatible device) or something. Seeing as how SD Cards etc. are reaching up thereabouts, it'd definately be possible.

to be more accurate: '' Those who want and will use the HDD functionality are hardcore gamers , and those already own an older ps2 that can support the hdd''

    oh well,..

    this is ridiculious.

Can anyone say PSP? Has slots for a memory stick, 1gb max = boot a ripped down game/ homebrew stuff/ imports from it with the firmware flashed (which it can be soft-flashed, just gotsa figure out how!)
