There's no reaction to the game, it spins up, but then a disc read error.

    Ideas?

There's the obvious laser... Is there any clicking that you can hear? How about a "wobbiling" sound?

Yeah it sounds like the laser may need a cleaning. If you already tryed to clean it you may try to adjust the pot. Just make sure to only increse it 1/8 a turn at a time until it works.

Everytime I have incresed a pot on a game console it has preformed flawlessly therafter.

Possibly the most commom problem to the PSTwo's. The voltage sent to the drive controller and the laser itself is higher than needed. So it fries both.

    What model is your PSTwo?

For anyone that has a PSTwo, even if you don't want to mod it, i suggest you to install Neo Fix or any other type of those laser voltage fixes.

Yeh, that could be it. If you have a SCPH 7000x or less, then I think it requires that voltage mod. I bought a 75001 and those have that problem fixed.

Is the laser done for or just adjust the voltage down?

No laser or spindle movement btw.

    What a crappy design.

Anyone know someone trustworthy for parts like this? I need a new laser and
    diode setup.
