There is still one day to be the official launch date of PSV in Japan. I have managed to obtain a PSV and share a review with you guys: Pic1: The package of the new PSV system Pic 2: Packages of the games Pic3: Game Card of PSV Pic4: Main Menu Pic5: PS3 remote play Pic6: 1.5 firmware update 1. PSV is significantly larger than the original PSP 1000. However, the weight is similar or even lighter. 2. The dual analog stick feels very good. However, there is no L3 and R3 buttons. 3. The screen size and resolution s supreme. However, the touch panel is not as sensitive as iphone. When viewed at certain angle, the ITO on the touch screen is visible and formed a grid like pattern. (<- very minor problem) 4. The GUI is newly designed for touch panel. dragging up and down change the icon page while left and right selects the active program (multi-tasking) 5. The game quality is similar to PS3. I will show you some game pics later. 6. Remote play to PS3 is similar to PSP. It FAILS to play most PS3 games. 7. PSN is now working. However, PStore cannot work outside of JAP PSN ACC. 8. Some games require the memory card. There is no internal storage space.
Still one day? Yep but I have one too! Just got to pick it up from the post office when I get home. It's not mine though, it's for someone here.
I don't have any games for it. It's not mine, I bought it for someone else. I'll take a picture of it when I pick it up.
because it no longer uses rubbish fragile umd disks. Games come on carts this time, still seems alien seeing a cart based sony product.
WHAT!!!! AND YOU DIDN'T PM ME ABOUT THAT!?!?!?! Holy hell, I might actually have a vita before xmas.
Thanks for posting pics and hands-on opinions. You scared me a litte. Yakumo buying a Sony product?!?! Immediately thought about...
Too bad it still seems like theres a LOT of loading time involved judging from the youtube vids, i was hoping for better performance in that area. Whats your own opinion after trying it in person? The main menu with the circles looks a bit vintage (in a bad way) to me. Still, looks very interesting, i''m waiting until its out for a few months then decide if im getting one or not.
Not to mention slow, loud and battery consuming. Disc media in the PSP was an awful idea. I've always run games off the memory card though. Serves them right for choosing the wrong medium.
I disagree, once Caching was available load times on UMD's were not that bad. And it wasn't THAT loud. At least the PSP didn't come with all the half assed bullshit Sony has been slinging out of it's unclean ass.
While I was never a great fan of the UMD disc, it did serve a purpose , it could hold 1.7 gigs it was a lot of space at the time and cartridges just couldn't compete size wise(at the consoles launch), just a pitty that most devs didn't fully utilize it till the end of the system life lifespan
Gonna hold off so that by the time I get one it will be cheaper/possibly in a second version/possibly hacked/have a better library of games, but GOD I WANT ONE SO BAD Wipeout *drool*
My biggest issue with the UMD disc is it's design, that doesn't protect the actual media inside it. It's so stupid. I'll never understand why Sony didn't used the design of their own MiniDisc or at least have a shutter that would open only when the disc is inside the drive. You know, like any Floppy disk...
I never understood the design of the UMD when they had the MiniDisc design which worked. They even had 1 gigabyte Hi-MD discs which could have easily been adapted slightly for the PSP rather than them having to create a whole new format. Never really got into the PSP anyway or at least after the initially first few weeks use of the system and it's games. Looking forward to the trying the Vita though and might pick one up as soon as it drops in price a little.
