Psx DVR not reading dvd's

So about 6 months ago my PSX DVR was reading all of the types of games that the ps2 has to offer, it would read Ps1 CD's Ps2 blue layered CD's PS2 DVD's and PS2 Dual Layered DVD's, and now it will only read Ps1 games, PS2 Blue Layered CD's, But it will not read any Dvd's and Dual Layered DVD, but through the use of Free MC Boot and ESR it will actually read any disc i throw at it including ps2 dvd's, so it seems as if the ps2 game laser is completely fine but the DVD laser is trying to die, but the strange thing is that i was able to get the psx to burn a dvd with one of the tv shows on the hdd, and then after it offered to play the dvd that i just burned, should i attempt to dissemble the unit and tune the pots to see if it will again read the dvd's, thanks to anyone who can help me out

 

Clean he laser before anything else. Several times I've seen lasers not read anything, and after a simple clean they work fine. Cotton swab and alcohol have worked wonders for me. If that fails, then go further.

 

I will try that and see what happens
