Can you fill me in on what this disc is?

 

The video posted right above by dizzzy explains it, but basically it was a disc that was sent to schools (part of the Lightspan series of discs, used for education purposes) which allowed a PS1 to be connected to the internet.
It required additional hardware (ie. a dial-up modem and an adapter to connect it to the PS1).
Only this beta version is known to exist.

 

So the PS1 got both Netfront and PlanetWeb browsers, that's nice!
