Can you change the default language (in the XMB) from Japanese to English? Can the PSX play other games or movies from regions other than NTSC-J Can the PSX tune VHF and cable broadcasts in the USA?
NCS says no. They were the primary vendor for the thing in the States, and they warned everybody not to expect English menus or compatibility with any American television broadcasts. It was simply cheaper and more practical to get a regular DVR and a regular PS2 rather than try to do anything with the combined unit.
How are the prices on these things from japan? Like if someone is in japan could they find one for relatively cheap?
I think a Datel action replay would do the DVD region change with ease. Even in that lovely PSX . But playing other region games.. well that is something you need to ask some more knowledgeable guys about. But is there not an older thread about this lovely piece of machinery ?
