hi, anyone know how to properly extract XA files from CD for BUILDCD use? I have tried ISO buster but the file length is not in multiple of 2336 bytes. CdRwin method works but the file size is larger than original and causing some images (like resident evil 3) to be 900MB+. PSX2HD works no more on modern computers and so not an option anymore.. Anyone know how to get those files from CD? much thanks!
You can find a program suitable for that task I made myself years ago: http://www.romhacking.it/upload/tools/[75]xtractor10.rar It's in italian, so I guess you're going to need some direction. 1) Where you see "Opzioni" set the ratio button on "Estrazione". 2) Specify an ISO to extract from in the text field where it says "Iso (2352 byte/settore)". 3) Where it says "STR con audio XA" place the name of your output file. 4) "Peso STR in byte" is the actual size referred in the ISO, while "LBA del file STR" is just the LBA you can obtain from any ISO inspecting tool. 5) Once all those fields are filled, press "Estrai". 6) Wait a few moments and the tool will create your STR+XA file extracted as proper 2336 byte/sector data.
I don't think I have the sources anymore for that build. I was working on an updated version with no MFC libraries, but I don't remember where those sources are stored anymore. As for XA conversion, I think no$psx documentation gives a good lead on how it should be handled.
