i really like the tekken series on the playstation one. there was one thing i didnt still dont like, were the hit explosions, the balls of blue and red fire and lightning. theres a program called timviewer that allows you to extract tim files and reinsert them. ive been playing around with it, modifying textures, as the game uses a lot of the tim files. there seems to be a thousand or so tim files in tekken 2, i havnt really looked yet in the other two games. ive been looking for the texture files of the hit explosions so i can modify them and have them not show up in game. my problem is, i cant find them. does anyone know what other format these image files might be, and if there are any other similar programs to timviewer that cover other file types. 15 years ago i could have probably done this with a hex editor, a couple knocks to the head and with the passage of time im having some trouble here. anyone still playing around with ps1 games? what would be the best way of going about finding out how to accomplish what i want, any links to resources or articles would be helpful as well, seems like a lot of the old websites i see referenced are now dead and gone. thank you.
in tekken 3 i think i found the files i need to alter, except when i insert the modified files back into the game. it freezes. maybe someone who reads this might know a special trick to altering sprites?
Make sure your replacement images have exactly the same attributes as the originals, file size, pixel count, colour depth etc.
