Hey guys, At long last, PSX: The Guide to the Sony Playstation, produced in association with Digital Press, has been released! Thanks to the great research of PSX uber-collectors here, especially Dangerboy, PapaStu and PS1Expert, this ultimate PS1 collector resource was completed. 142 full-color pages. Rarity/Price guide three years in the making, including publisher, developer, genre, GH, longbox, and variant information. Intensive writeups for 60 games. Interviews with the former head of R&D at Sony, the developer of Crash Bandicoot and the editor of Next Generation magazine. Never before seen "inside images". A 10-page history of the system. Demo, Lightspan and Boxset listings. This book has everything you want if you hope to become a serious PS1 collector. The cost? Absolutely free in pdf version. $28.99 in printed version (believe me, this was the lowest cost possible for a print-as-you-go full color 8.5x11" book). Check out the order page at http://www.digitpress.com/products/psxbook.htm I would be grateful if any of the game media writers here wanted to write the book up. I'm happy to provide any help: contact me at kevincure AT yahoo DOT com. Kevin Bryan
What a nice christmas present!! I'm happy to see it's completed Kevincure. Also, I'm honoured to be one of the people that helped you (with those prototype screenshots), even if it was just a small help. This is a must for any PlayStation collector. Gotta get a paypal account asap, so i can buy it.
Great! It fills me with joy every time the PS is recognized as a collector's system and not some mainstream piece of junk! But please do away with the fake amazon store system for downloads , I mean it's okay to use it when buying the actual book but what happened to a direct file link....
This is not the correct link. This link is for an incomplete version. You need to download it from the one kevincure specified.
For the pdf version, the license is CC, so feel free to mirror it wherever you want. The pdf is > 20MB, and I just don't have the webspace to host that many 20mb downloads.
That is super great to hear that with the book, but I think I am stupid, since I am sorry, but I can´t find a link to the file.
I just finished downloading it. The quality is fantastic! I'm happy see my full name in the begining of the book. My first big help to the PS community. Also there's a mention to the AssemblerGames message board. Congratulations on the fantastic work Kevincure.
VERY nice. you folks at DP never cease to surprise me. i wish such quality and dedication could go into more system specific guides.
This sounds incredibly awesome, but I have some questions... Is it similar to the "Famicom 1983-1994" almanac, which listed photos and release date info for each of the 1000+ Famicom titles ever made? Said book also had interviews with key figures from the era, plus write ups for some of the more important releases. Anyway, absolutely loved that book, and wished that publishers would do similar things for other systems. Though I'm guessing this wasn't possible, with the PSX book being only 60 pages? Is it just lists of games with prices, or are there cover art photos for each game too? How many PSX titles are listed in total? Is just one specific region, or all three (NTSC-J, NTSC-U/C, PAL)? If you want it covered in Retro Gamer magazine: www.retrogamer.net Then drop the editor an email at: darran.jones(at)imagine-publishing(dot)co(dot)uk I'm sure you know what to do with the first "@" and two ". ." in the above. Let him know that Szczepaniak passed on the details, he might allocate me more of the month's budget.
Thanks I know that link, but I can´t find the pdf file. And second of all I am one of those "lucky" people who can´t buy online things :/
Just click add to cart and follow the process through. You have to register with them. At the end you just get a link to a PDF. No credit card or anny real details needed, you just give them your email address and a password
