PSX upgrade? Perhaps?

in the uk about 12/13 years ago now it was common to call the playstation the psx.

ps1/psone - slimline playstation

and to be fair since the actual PSX DVR Thing only came out in japan its a bit anal to get narked up about people ignoring it.

 

I'm a detestable pedant, but even I don't get my knickers in a twist over the PSX/PS1/PSOne thing.

It wasn't PlayStation-X, but rather PlayStation eXperience. That was back in the time of X-TREME everything so Sony hopped on the bandwagon just like the masses.

Hence the PSX moniker stuck.

Sony later repurposed it for a DVR, but outside of Japan PSX still means PS1 to most people.
