Has anyone attempted to install the PSX-XBOO mod on a PlayStation? It beleive it allows remote code execution and (possibly) debugging through use of a BIOS replacement and a parallel port. It consists of a bunch of wires and 5 other components and can be put together on a breadboard. It was developed by the creator of no$psx and can interface with the no$psx emulator. I'm not comfortable installing it myself, as he only provides rough, text-based schematics as of now. Details/Scematics are here: http://nocash.emubase.de/psx-spx.htm#modsnocashpsxxbooupload This is his completed install on a PSOne, along with some AV modifications and a recreated serial port.
Don't waste your time with that thing. You need an eeprom programmer for the custom no$ bios. That bios has not wonderfull interface and have several problems with games that use bios font. I think the gem it's the emulator itself, but it's far away from a excellent emulator But with the time and next revisions...
So it's not ready for prime time? It can only improve with time. It seams like it could potentially be really cool once the bugs are worked out.
Wooow great! ...so, why not put a parallel port like on Action Reaply cheat cartridge? put those on that PS One will be great story! :victorious:
It's not supposed to mimic the parallel port found on the original PlayStation. Rather, it's to interface with the XBOO mod to send data back and forth. I don't know the specifics, but in the documentation I linked to, the author mentions that making a parallel port for the PSOne that works like the one found on an old PlayStation might be possible, but he hadn't looked into it.
