Will things such as images and photoshop files be available for separate download, my computer wouldn't be able to handle that big of a download and I'm really only interested in that stuff.
Surely you jest, FTP 45GB would be suicide to the site as far as bandwidth. It will be in 4gb chunks made as isos, with custom labels hopefully. People can DL, burn and then have the total collection on hand. As some people have mentioned, they do not have room for all the content at once. Everyone has a 50 pack of dvd which is less than $12 now these days. I will group it together by content and let people pick apart each disc of content so we get the most out of it. Things like textures can be released immediately, but things like dreamcast source need to be trickled out so people can examine and implement it.
I have a dedicated seedbox that can upload torrents at a pretty decent speed. If you are interested, let me know EDIT: The seedbox is from seedunlimited.com, so I have unlimited bandwidth
I've known ynh for a while, for what it's worth coming from me (being a newish person to this forum), he's legit.
its simple you download utorrent then you go to a torrent site like the pirate bay and search for what you want download a link file open it with utorrent and boom your off and downloading
My offer still stands ASSEMbler. I know I've only got (three) posts by this point, but I'd still like to contribute my use of my seedbox if you need it.
You want to download 42GB but you're scared of a tiny executable to do so? What planet are you from? Torrent is the only distribution method that makes sense. I'd say that turning the data into isos is something that should be done later - just make each folder into a 7z archive to save as much space as possible and then let people sort through them one at a time. The main concern with turning data into 4.5GB iso files is that if someone wants (just as an example) a 2MB PDF they have to download the whole 4.5GB to get it. That doesn't make sense - it's a waste of time and bandwidth.
I just dropped a 2TB hdd in this machine and have 1.28TB free atm, thus plenty of space to store it several times over. My connection can only manage about 110kb/s upload for eternity though.
