Forgive me, but I'm not well versed in hardware and I've been curious about this for a while. Would it be possible to hook phone or other screens directly into a Game Boy Color? For instance, plugging in a LCD with backlight into the port? I am aware of resolutions, aspect ratios, and some screens simply being unable to fit inside the case without modding it, but is this even possible? There are some OLED screens on aliexpress that have low resolutions, I've wondered about what if it was possible to put that in a game boy color disregarding the case, aspect ratio, etc. I've noticed screens generally use a orange like connector which is why I've been curious about this. Thanks.
If you had pin outs for both displays that would be a start.. the two displays would more than likely use differnt pin outs and probably use completely different methods of image processing. Better to look into the gba. sorry
The screens used in the various Gameboy systems are probably custom. If they aren't, finding anything with a compatible but better screen seems unlikely. One possibility is to use a modern screen in combination with a device to convert the output from the GB or GBC to a standard video signal like Composite or RGB.
