Hey everyone, Everyone talks about how PVM's look so great and such, but do they really give you anything more than what a Framemister and RGB can do? I assume both setups will give you equal picture quality, with the exception that the Framemister is way more flexible than a heavy/small PVM?
PVM = the real deal, as where the Framemeister is a emulation of CRT on a modern TV. It all comes down to personal preference and convenience.
honestly, i prefer the Tube, but like using my XRGB when i want to be in my living room. so it really is personal preference and convenience. BTW Alex, cheapest one i've found... http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEC-PC-Engi...f8b0805&pid=100033&rk=2&rkt=6&sd=162129314390
Go play any game that switches resolutions a lot, e.g. for menus, through the FM. Then we'll talk again.
Basically a much-better-than-average CRT with additional inputs not usually found on murrican Teevees. Screens for professional studio use.
I have a few PVM's and a Framemeister and I prefer the Framemeister. I'm really OCD about geometry issues which most PVMs have since they were taken out of a film studio or security room.
Depends on the individual. With the PVM you'll get the real deal 100% but for that you'll also have to deal with no upscaling and sacrificing the space for a huge tube TV. The Framemeister will have a bit of input delay just because of the nature of how modern devices and screens work, and it will also be fussy when switching resolutions internally from 240p to 480i for example. However - It is an awesome piece of tech and will allow you to beautifully upscale and play your games on almost any modern screen. To me the Framemeister is worth it, but that's because I'd like to capture through HDMI easily and don't want to allocate the space in my apartment to a tube TV.
Big TV gaming needs a Framemeister. Here's my Pc Engine running on a 45" screen via the Framemeister. Also take in to consideration this picture was taken with a phone.
