So apparently the new version of Swiss allows you to force the Gameboy player in 240p mode. I want that desperately, because GBA games on the GB player looks like crap, even in 480p.
Unfortunately I can't get it to work at all :( I have a Qoob Pro installed in my GC, which has a version of Swiss on it. Unfortunately I've lost the USB connector to the chip, so I can't update it this way.

I've tried to boot the old version of swiss and then load the new one of an SD card. I thought that would work, but when the new version loads the screen is all messed up for some reason. The menus are slow and it won't boot the GB player disc :(
I've also tried sending the new version of Swiss to my Qoob chip using the BBA. This works well, and the screen looks good now. Unfortunately it still won't boot the GB player disc at all. It reads the dol, then says 100% complete and nothing happens. I've tried various settings in Swiss and in the Qoob configuration menu, but nothing seems to help. Come to think of it I don't think I've EVER been able to boot any game using Swiss :(

My GameCube is EU, I'm using component cables for video and my Gameboy Player-disc is US (because of 480p). Any help to get this up and running would be greatly appreciated :)

Is it possible to flash the new version of Swiss to the Qoob, using network? Having to send it from my PC isn't a very good solution. Information on the Qoob chip seems very sparse these days.

If the chip is faulty and the reason why Swiss doesn't work, I can get a Qoob SX locally, but if you can't flash homebrew applications to it, then what's the point?

XenoGC is a much more affordable alternative, but how would you run Swiss off that? Can it boot off GeckoSD? Burning DVDs and having to swap those, and perhaps even adjust the pot on the laser, is something I would like to avoid.

wish I knew the answer to this, I use a wiikey fussion setup and just boot the ISO from the sd card, SWISS is used as "firmware" in the wkf and autoboots each time a sd card is inserted
maybe you will have more luck posting in the GC-Forever forums were emu_kidid lurks....

Thanks for your response. Unfortunately that's not an option for me as I don't want to run my games off an SD card.

Yeah maybe I should ask emu_kidid over there, but I thought I'd ask here first, before I create yet another profile for another forum :)

EDIT: Nevermind. It turned out to be because the Qoob menu was set to 480p. Game was set to Auto, though so I never would have guessed that this would mess anything up? :D

I got 240p now it seems. But I rushed over here to type this, so I haven't had a chance to look at it properly yet ;)

awesome, glad you got this sorted

btw, you can hook up the DVD drive after the wkf and it will work as normal if there is no SD card inserted ;)

Heck last time I tried my USB port didn't work. If still the case I'd have to either burn a disc for each new Swiss version that adds a relevant feature, or spend $20+ on postage for yet another repair.

XenoGC connects to the optical drive. There isn't an interface to read SD from.

No I thought as much :/

It's a long shot, but if I can find the pinout of the ribbon connector on the chip, then I should be able to wire a USB socket to it. If I remember correctly the USB PCB only had the socket and an access LED.
