Anyone ever seen this before? http://www.rothrin.net/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=301 interesting to say the least...
Mmm, yes. I think I still have this version in an old CD. I used to play it in 1997, not knowing that it wasn't the official release. This version lacks certain configuration menus, so in order to set the resolution you need to do it with the console. The weirdest thing comes when you reach this final stage. It's just an straight path in which you must kill all the enemies that teletransport in front of you as you advance. At the end there is a teleporter. When you use ir you appear inside the boss, in a closed space, and it is impossible to kill it. It isn't even a real enemy...
Looks like I completely screwed it... The level I described seems to be the final level of the retail version. When we open the readme.txt which is included with the game, whe can find this header: +----------------------------------------+ | Quake BETA3 - not publicly released | | Tuesday, June 11th, 1996 | | Copyright (C) 1996 id Software, inc. | +----------------------------------------+ | Operating Instructions | | by John Romero | +----------------------------------------+ Ok, We should get to the game. First comes the setup.exe. All right, time to config this baby: Doom 2??? Kinda whacky, isn't it? So, we have configured "Doom 2" and the game starts: Mmmm, 320x200. And in the config menu there isn't any option to set up the resolution. Looks like we will need the console. Now the game runs at 640x480. Let's have a look at the menus. Multiplayer menu. Work in Progress. Help Screen. There's something weird about it, so I'm going to increase the brightness... Oh, an easter egg. This is Map E3M7, The Wind Tunnel. There isn't any enemies in it. And the Final level: The Final stage starts in a corridor with a few monsters, and a rounded yellow teleporter at the end. After stepping inside the lava pentacle, Ogres and Spiders appear in platforms above the player, and it's completely impossible to survive. When the two Spiders have been Killed, a teleporter will appear. Tresspasing the last teleporter will lead us to Quake, and that's as far as we can get. It can't be killed, although It can deal some damage if the player get's in contact with it. If we have enabled the God Mode we can "enter" the monster. Here are some extra screens: Enjoy ;-)
was is leaked through the usual channels or just into the hands of a collector ? cause if its in the first one i might have it on some dirty old qic 80 streamer tapes dont ask me to find that maybe in some months or so
