I've ordered the bits and bobs I need for the SuperCIC mod for my SNES and as a test cart I grapped a Jap copy of Pilotwings. At the moment I'm still waiting for my PIC programmer to turn up and I haven't lifted pin4 of the CIC, so it's a standard PAL SNES for the time being.

I tried my Jap copy of Pilotwings in my PAL SNES to see what it would do and I was expecting a message on the screen along the lines of "This cartridge was not developed for your console" or something similar. What I get instead is no video output at all.

Is this normal behaviour or have I got a wonky cart? I'm guessing that the CIC is causing the SNES to constantly reset, hence no video output.

That is normal behaviour. Just like you said, the CIC keeps the SNES in reset state until it finds a matching CIC on the cartridge.

Cool, that's what I thought. I just won 6 x Jap games (3 x Mariopaints) and a Jap Super Gameboy for £3, so I've got plenty of carts to test it with now ;-)
