Been reading the boards for a bit & was wondering if you guys could help me with something. I somewhat help out with the Nintendo Database. For the FDS, there were 2 Famicom Golf Tours held & Gold disks were given away as prizes.

    http://www.planetnintendo.com/nindb/nes/nes_jp-d.shtml

    "Golf Japan Course (Gold Disk)
    Release: July 1987
    Genre: Sport (Golf)
    Developer: Nintendo RD1
Description: Bonus gold disk given away as a prize in the Famicom Golf Tour. The game is based on the Golf Japan Course commercial release, but with some new courses and a new title screen. 5,100 of these disks were won throughout the tournament.

    Golf U.S. Course (Gold Disk)
    Release: September 1987
    Genre: Sport (Golf)
    Developer: Nintendo RD1
Description: A second bonus gold disk for the Famicom Disk System, given away as a prize in the 2nd Famicom Golf Tour. The game was based on the Golf US Course game, but with some new courses and a new title screen. It is not known how many of this title are in circulation. "

    My question is:
Does anyone have any further info about these prizes? Maybe even the roms?

(Forgive me if I seemed to rable, it's 4 am and just searched most of the net for info about these prizes.

The regular FDS disks of Golf Japan, US, and even F-1 Rally (3-D Hot Rally too), maybe more if I'm not mistaken, had contests for them. Gamers had to try to get a low score (it's golf, y'see) (or best time in the racing games), which would be recorded on their disks. They then took their disks to game shops which had special FDS units (or Disk Writers?) attached to a Fax machine, and the score would be read from the disk and sent to Nintendo. The best players got gold disks (or other prizes) as an award.

This is all I can remember off the top of my head, and from reading various Famicom histories.

Yeah, there were 5 games that used the Famicom Disk Fax to send your scores to Nintendo. http://www.atarihq.com/tsr/fds/disk.html
The 4 listed on here: http://www.intheattic.co.uk/special.htm

    &

Nakayama Miho no Tokimeki Highschool were the 5 games.

I guess I wanted to know if the special Gold prize discs were ever dumped.

edit: realized that "Golf Japan Course - Nyuushou" is the special Gold Disc. May anyone have "Golf US Course - Nyuushou"?
