I have an article on this somewhere about cdo regional lockouts, in fact it is right here hehe...let me see.......there is no lockout in the cdi, it will play games from any region.

I have the article hee about the cdi and other formats, it's an ntsc, pal, secam article so it is very complicated.Pm me if you want it, it goes into stuff like the cdi green book standard, the standard it originally used for it's mpeg 1 films before having to adopt the white book so the discs could be played in any mpeg 1 player etc..,it's really intresting. As i said pm me with your email address if you want it.

Also cdi games output in either 525 lines or 625 lines , the output is decided by the region of the cdi player not the game, 525 for ntsc, 625 for pal.The refresh rate is also decided by the cdi player, 60hz for ntsc, 50hz for pal.It has a sort of tv converotr inside it, the only disadvantage of this is sometimes letterboxing for ntsc games on a pal system, but that doesn't usually happen due to the complex way a cdi converts the picture, the only downside of this tv conversion method is a slight picture judder sometimes.CDI is quite complicated inside but again this is good as there are no regional ockouts, one of the first machines to practice this.

The only limitation on CD-i I am aware of is the VCD discs (pal/ntsc)

I have one US CD-i game and it plays perfectly fine on my PAL CDI-450, even with composite video (which shows that the signal is 100% true PAL, as my TV won't accept PAL60 or NTSC50 over composite)

Well really the list is rather short.... Burn:Cycle is often mentioned as being good, though certain parts look very dated, the animation (no VCD required!) is pretty stunning. And if Lost Eden is anywhere near as good as the PC version, get it! Sadly I have a CDI-450 but no VCD card, so half of my games won't work :-(
I do have one of those old VCD cards, but they're for the 210 models.
