Well I hate to sound like a juvenile after-school special but you shouldn't do anything you're not comfortable with, that's my position anyway... I'm a preservationist by nature as well and like things to be exact but I don't think this kind of thing really warrants that. You could let the owner know that there is someone out there who is interested in that information and leave it up to them to decide... if the owner doesn't want to part with that information then that'll be that. Another option might be to ask the member if he wants to buy the original and if they are serious and have money to back it up you could contact the owner about possibly selling it. ~Krelian
