Would I be breaking any of ebay/paypal's rules if I put my sd2snes cartridge up for sale through ebay/paypal? I've never sold anything online before personally, but I am aware that selling certain items (that may or may not involve pirating) could prove to be an issue. If anyone has experience selling such an item before on ebay, etc. I'd be very grateful to know their thoughts on this, thanks.
I would use pictures. Use pictures with text instead of a description. "everdrive" No description in text, but a picture with the info. Chinese sellers sell ufo drive all the time somehow.
And if you do post it, ebay will remove the item. Even worse, if it sells before ebay removes the item. Ebay will report the TOS breach to Paypal, who will lock your account. I know there are some sellers who seem to get away with it (like the chinese sellers ASSEMbler mentioned), but I still have no idea how they do it. A friend on this board got slammed for a Mr.Backup Z64 a couple years ago by eBay. But at the same time, I saw a couple V64s sell. (which is basically the same thing)
Based on the comments so far (and thanks again btw), I guess it's a 50/50 chance whether ebay will let it slide, or lay the banhammer on me. Too risky for my tastes. Oh well. Perhaps I'll try and sell it on the marketplace forums here at a later date (when I meet the criteria to do so).
you post it as a Development item and that's IT. the reason Toubs friend got pinched was because it had the word BACK UP in it, ebay has some algorithm that finds certain key words, like multi cart and nintendo together = FLAG i tried to sell my vintage carts and Ebay flagged all of them because i said nintendo and multi cart, changed them to FC Multicart, and they never bothered me.
Paypal's understanding of what constitutes trademarks and copyrights is flat out wrong and too liberal. Nothing we do here, even basic mods for RGB, are acceptable.
