For some reason, a friend of mine wishes to purchase a Sega Mark III. The thing is that he's interested in playing Master Systems games on it as well. So my question is whether or not such a converter exists for the Sega Mark III. Thanks in advance.
Yes, it will work on the Mark III too. Although it's pointless as the Mark III and the western Master System are effectively the same machine. The Japanese Master System is a different kettle of fish.
Hover your mouse cursor over Jamtex's answer once again. Yes, try to get a JP SMS. They're more versatile than just the MarkIII, due to the FM sound, 3-D glasses port built-in.
Try the forums over at www.smstributes.co.uk Good bunch of guys over there and they will definately point you in the right direction.
Are you meaning Master System games released outside of Japan? As other people have responded, the Japanese games will work fine, but they will not have the better quality sound if it is supported (example: Phantasy Star http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3XcMbT9pGeo). If you mean being able to play American games on the system then I have not heard of a converter. I know you can play them on a Game Gear with an adapter if your friend has that system.
Easy question, I have one made by tototek and plays perfectly all US games that I tested on mark III, even brazilian exclusives like sonic balst and street fighter 2 Take a look here http://www.tototek.com/ Good service and fast shipping
Mark III looks much better than jap master system, you can use 3-d glasses (the adaptor comes already with acessory) and FM chip can be used as external acessory (not so much hard to find)
