Offhand if possible could you folks give me a guesstimate of what you think some of your more hardcore customers spend per year at your store? I'm going through what 05 reciepts I can find and trying to figure out where I stand.
A friend of min that works at an ebgames says of the top 5 customers for 2004 at his particular store, number 5 spent just under 20,000 and number 1 one spent just over 50,000. How you ask the number 1-customer reserves 5 – 10 of the same title.
$20,000 to $50,000 USD? Is that thier total for the year? Do these people just buy everything in sight including crappy stuff that they never actually play? I can't imagine that I would want to buy $20,000 of stuff from EB. Now $20,000 to $50,000 on ebay is something I can believe.
If someone is buying $50,000 worth of games from gamestop just to resell them, then that person is a moron. At that level of purchasing its pretty easy to get bulk discounts from the major distributors...
Similar to you, I haven't bought anything from EB and Gamestop this year already...they always have the same stuff, and really have none of the good older titles they use to carry(SNES games, Dreamcast).
I've only spent $25 there this year, partly because I don't have a job. My local EB used to have a ton of really good (really old) computer games, but they're gone now... I bought them all . There's the occasional PSX find, but it really depends on the price if I buy it from them or if I eBay it.
Heh. A few weeks ago I bought Metal Gear Solid 3, and Gothic 2 Gold (for my friend). I probably won't go back in there for a very long time now, unless I decide to buy that PS2 game, Kinetics. I gotta work out!
The Gamestop in my town has some importers. I always thought I was the most hardcore gamer around the town where I live, but I saw some Japanese imports in the used PSX section. Like the Japanese Suikoden II and etc.
