I'd like to buy a broken PSOne from ebay. The seller told me they used an unofficial power adapter with opposite/wrong polarity.... and the console won't power on anymore. I'd like to know if in that case the laser/optical group is still working... I don't wanna buy it if the laser is fried up too. I suppose it's not and it's just a blown fuse related to the power (and probably an easy fix but I don't need the console).
    Thank you guys!

I would buy a new laser. They are $15 on eBay for the KSM-440-BAM laser. The problem with swapping in an old laser is you don't know how much wear and tear it has already had. It may fail soon after transfer. And you are right about the faulty console. Plugging in a reversed pole power adapter will have probably damaged the motherboard.

hmm $15 sounds like a ripoff to me since where im from (uk) you can get the conosole for a fiver with a controller and leads
I have a spare laser I can give it for free but shipping cost might be expensive

The eBay ones are clones. I'd say buying a used one is actually a pretty good idea.

To answer your question, the laser should be OK.
