Quick question here, I have recently aquired a DTL-H30001, it only runs discs patched as master from CD-R/DVD-R. The problem I have is that some homemade discs (compilations) won't run even when having them patched as master (the image, not the elfs seperately). I was under the impression that for the PS2 TESTs models it would be enough to patch the few sectors of the actual disc image to master, but all my compilation discs do not seem to work. So I wonder.. For compilations and games with multiple elf files do I actually have to patch all of the elfs seperately (including homebrew elfs?) and then remaster the disc? Thanks in advance.
Irrespective of whatever the 30001 is meant to be capable of running, it actually sounds more like a laser issue to me than anything else. I've found that my 3XXXX (of which I have 2 different types) plays pretty much anything you throw at it. I started a guide on laser assembly - cleaning, but this week at work was unbelievable. We usually have 5 lecturers, but 1 left for another job, my immediate boss went on an external course leaving 3 of us to cover everything. This coming week is even worse as although my boss is due back, 1 member of staff is off South to see his American girlfriend and yet another member of staff had a surprise holiday booked for him, so we will be down to two!
Hm, I don't think its a media issue, since it runs normal discs on the same media fine (if patched to master). The problem just seems to occur with games that use more than one elf. Anyway, looking forward to that guide when you have the time to finish it
There are some problems with "Disk Patcher" application itself but mostly it works, so you might got one more issue. to find out exactly - try to re-create the full disk with (CD_DVD-ROM Generator + .iml to .iso)
The thing is that the home made compilations of multiple games / emulators / whatever are mastered in CD/DVD Generator already, therefore they should be master. However none of them work, which brings me back to my theory that all elfs on the disc need to be patched. The next thing I will try is patching all the ELFs and then master it again.
if seriously - I doubt about the .elf changes, just made a quick check with md5sum ELF: org 1fe36c2ba3286c0c7b81118f91ff9421 *SCUS master 1fe36c2ba3286c0c7b81118f91ff9421 *SCUS ISO: org 2859691707bbf5f76efa629fee99fa8d master 5f7f5783eb8bbaae961eef078c8fc5de so it looks like no changes directly inside .elf I did not try to check the issue with the test ps2 but it is interesting and if you can share .iso I can check couple of more things. btw what exactly happens on "won't run" ?
Hm thats odd. The problem for me only occurs with compilation discs, I use the multiloa.elf from here: http://www.gratisweb.com/digidance/Down.htm I believe it was originally a program made to run several games from hd, however it works fine on discs as well. My compilation discs work fine on retail machines using modchip or swapmagic disc. On the TEST PS2 they just end up booting to a black screen. If really no changes are done to the elfs I'm out of ideas.
btw is there any report as that app works at all on the test ps2 ? I will try to check it with the TOOL...
Now I have some doubts that this app can run on TEST or on the TOOL,it tries to next file to it but not more then that. it is not a problem of homebrew on test etc but this app only.
