I know that downloading music and Xbox 360 games are illegal to download because they require the artist's/makers consent to say whether they are a free or payed for download. I've been reading on the internet about PSP downloads from Bittorent, etc. and it seems like there is a controversy over PSP games.
Here's my question: Because you aren't actually extracting the actual UMD, does that mean you are free to download it or does that still make it illegal? Are those pay-to-download sites illegal? I would just rather download ISO's because buying a bunch of PSP games can add up.

Unless you live in China, which doesn't seem to respect copyright, yes it's illegal.

There is no "controversy." Unless you're downloading from the rights holder or an authorized rep (such as the PSN store) it is copyright infringement.

Paying money to download pirated software is just dumb.

If you're going to break the law and pirate software you might as well just do it.

If you're going to break the law and pirate software AND pay someone else to help you do it, well then you're just being a gullible idiot. :)

If you want the games buy them.

If not, vote with your wallet. Don't buy them and don't play them.

Unless you exchange money, illegal. Closed and please refrain from any more piracy related questions.
