    Hey guys,

I was interested in buying a few of the PSone classics from Japanese PSN to play on my 20GB US PS3. Now, I already have the account, but a few questions.

    1. How can I purchase credit? I know that I can buying imported PSN cards, but I hear the import shops rape you by jacking prices up. Is there anyway I can use a VISA or even a gift card?

    2. Is there anyway I can get the purchase transfered to my master account? Let's say that my master account is an American one, while the Japanese is a sub. Is there anyway to have the Japanese game under the American account's record? Thanks

1: You can find a user living in Japan to buy them for you, and have them email you the code. The price depends on the seller. You can probably get them for a similar price from play-asia, but they will not email you the code, period.

2: Since there is no such thing as a master account, no. SCEA US & SCEA J are two separate corporate entities. You have two separate accounts; one which connects to one. Never the twain shall meet.

This is a silly question as I'm not super familiar with the PSN downloads (so I could be TOTALLY off base here), but aren't the PS1 games straight up ISO images in a container?

If so, wouldn't the region coding be intact?

And since the PS3 is region coded for PS1 and PS2 (if you have a BC unit) games, wouldn't a JPN PS1 game download fail to run on a US PS3?

I have downloaded Japanese content on my PS3 and it appears under my UK account.

However hl718 is correct, my console is Japanese and when I downloaded UK PS1 games they do not run on any of the accounts.

I haven't tried, b/c I couldn't think of a worse way to play a PS1 game than on a PS3. Well, on a PSP, definitely, but still. I've not heard of anyone having issues w/ any JPN PS3 DLC content (including PS games) being region locked at all. Might want to ask at shmups, as I'm sure loads have just downloaded Gaia Seed, seeing how it's a $150+ game now.

As for the format, yes. They are simply a container-ified ISO. There are programs to slap your own ISOs into this container to play on a hacked PSP.

A bit off topic, but i'll buy a american PS3 console soon.

If i buy a Japanese PS3 game (in blu-ray disc), i'll need to have a japanese PSN account so that game can be updated (not DLC, but patches and stuff) ?

Same with European PS3 games on american console? Will it need an european PSN account just to download it's games patches?

I don't think the account matters for patches. I don't log into my PSN account by default, and every time I start a game that needs patching it finds it for me automatically.

My Minna no Golf 5 updated fine under my UK account, shouldn't be a problem.

Downloading other region PsOne releases from the PSS and run them on a PlayStation 3 gives no problems... unless your trying to run a PAL PsOne release on a JPN or US PS3.

Should've thought about that before you decided to be born by your English mother.
