Updating to latest recovery | Test to Dev

I do not need any warez or files. Just some advice...

I have a Zephyr XDK. White casing, White sidecar, HDMI port, sticker says "Xbox 360 XDK" and "2007 - 09 - 06".
It's running REALLY old software. The Flash is 6683.0 and the XDK is 6534.4.

I'm pretty sure I understand the update process. Just run a recovery or remote recovery of the version you want.
But my question is, are there any traces that I have to cut for e-fuses or anything like that before I run a recovery?

Since it has an HDMI port that means it's a final kit and can run any recovery without bricking, right?

What is the latest recovery that is available?

Probably wouldn't run anything below 5426 on your kit, as I believe your SMC won't support it. Don't quote me on it, just I found out the hard way when I bricked a falcon kit wanting to do the KK exploit, and had to reflash back over the sidecar cables. Good old noobie days.

And the latest I have is 21250.7, not sure what the latest available is, or what the latest leaked is, you can probably find 21250.2 on the net. If not, hit me up and i'l point you in the right direction of a recovery for ya! Hope this helps!

And regarding efuses, providing you don't use that hacked up 9328.9 recovery that was floating about or any other malicious .xex, you won't need to, and you won't kill your kit.

The latest recovery is 21250.9. Your kit will not be bricked from a recovery. Just dont do any 9328 in case you get the malicious one somehow.

Running 21250.2 now. Turns out it's a test kit.

What's the best way to convert it to development kit? I've read there's a .xex that basically changes a string so it displays as development kit without really changing anything. I've also read that the more elegant solution is to write a dev KV to it. Is there a way to read/write KV's via the sidecar? I've done RGH mods before, so I know how to use NAND-X and the like. But I don't wanna open this minty kit up.

Thanks for the responses guys. :)

Just leave it be. If you brick it then youll have to open it up

It really isn't even worth doing, you don't gain anything from doing it besides it saying "Xbox 360 Development Kit" in xshell

Ok. Thanks for that advice. But with it being test kit will I be able to poke memory values? That's my main concern.

Right. I want to gain the ability to kernel debug and do real time editing. I don't care what it says in xShell as I'm not looking to sell the kit under a false guise. I'm keeping it to use.

So far I have: the CPU key, flashdmp.bin, and all the HVXdump files backed up in case bad things happen.
According to this tut, I can run a .xex that will make the flash files accessible in Xbox 360 Neighborhood. Can I simply add xbdm.xex or some other file(s) to the flash to enable RTE? There's got to be something devkits have that testkits don't...

Or is the only way to flash a devkit KV which I'm not opposed to doing... but that does carry a certain amount of risk.

Thanks for the help everyone. I'm really trying to learn. :)
