    - Is it possible to use a Pocket Station memcard on a European PS1? Yes it is, It even works with Pal ridge racer 4! It reports its self as a Pocket station in any region ps2 too....Has its own Icon in the browser which is pretty cool

    - Is there a way to use the PS2 BB unit (external HDD) on a European PS2 ? The network/hdd intended for the Scph-1X0000/V0 models? No it is not, in europe we only have the network adapter that we can use with any hdd with patched software

I don't know about the PocketStation, sorry. But AFAIK, PlayStation hardware is never region-locked.

Europe never had a PC CARD PlayStation 2 model, so you just need an Internal HDD unit and network adaptor (for expansion bay).
If you don't intend to use unmodified SONY software (i.e. not ATAD-patched or maybe homebrew software all the way), then you don't have even need to get a SCPH-20401 (SONY 40GB Internal HDD unit for PlayStation 2).

Unless you mean that you already have one. Then yeah, you need to get an early Japanese console (SCPH-10000/SCPH-15000/SCPH-18000), the network adaptor (SCPH-10190) and AC adaptor (SCPH-10200)

Thank you for all your replies, really appreciated :]
I already have many PS2 set with internal HDD (FMCB, FHDB, and another with POPStarter).
I got an official PS2 BB Unit, and wanted to make it work. So yes, i'll have to look for an early Japanese PS2.
I was hoping that someone already "hacked" these HDD to work with other PS2 models.

There won't be such a mod because the interface got changed (not just physically, but the signals and software too).
Neither is the network adaptor a standard PCMCIA card, so you won't see it used anywhere else other than an early PlayStation 2.

The HDD inside is a SCPH-20401 - the same disk that is sold as internal HDD units. But if you don't want/need it anymore, perhaps consider selling it instead of cutting the disk out. These HDD units are getting rare, especially working ones.

    'llo here, me again !
So I got that japanese PS2.
Hooked everything together, turned it On, the PS2 itself works great, but the HDD doesn't light on, doesn't spin.
I don't have that BB browser disc, is it necessary ? Is it possible to use this HDD with a FMCB memcard ?
I hope that HDD unit is not broken...
    Thanks in advance !

The hdd only turns on when accessed, so either with the PSBBN, the Browser 2.0, Linux, or homebrew software.

    'llo here !
    Hehe, good news.
Finally, i plugged a FMCB memcard in the PS2 and turned On.
The HDD lit on, and I could hear working noise. But at a moment, the sound got loud, as a gear blocked trying to spin.
Turned the whole set up Off then On again and tadaaa.
Actually, FMCB boots the HDD, and then the PS2 boots on the HDD PSBBN :)
I couldn't understand what was the very first screen, i think it was somthing like a missing Internet connection.
Anyway, i passed that screen using one of the two options, and i could navigate inside PSBBN.
    Really glad about it !
Unfortunatly, i can't read japanses, so i don't know if there is somthing interesting inside that HDD, or even how to use it.
    But at least, it's working.
So next step will be to find a PSBBN guide !

Something to note : FMCB boots the HDD, that finally makes the PS2 boots in the PSBBN. So it seems we can't use FMCB on a PS2 hooked to a SCPH-20400.

Thank you for your help !
