That crap, it's so hard to found information about marty on internet So, I have more questions I got the alone in the dark marty version (works on computer too), I put the cd, an "os marty" appears on screen with two icons alone in the dark icon and hd install icon, marty doesn't have hd, so I clicked on alone in the dark icon but a new screen appears asking to put a diskette for save (in japanese) but my marty belt is dead Probably I will need an diskette formated in towns computer, because I already tried with an pc diskette in another game (nadia blue water) when my belt was working and doesn't worked, I put the diskette that comes with game (towns diskette) and worked fine Alone in the dark for marty originally comes with an towns marty diskette or only cd? There's any option on initial marty menu that format an diskette in marty format? There's many options on this menu but all are in heavy japanese Me (and many people) really needs an complete towns marty faq :banghead:
Thank you very much for shots, but OS marty that comes with alone in the dark disc and marty initial menu are different than OS town of fm towns computer, but I will search for any option with same japanese words on OS marty and in initial marty menu The initial marty menu that I mean is like memory storage menu of another cd systems (sega cd, neo geo cd etc)
It could be many different things. I don't have that game, so don't know for sure. Some Fm Towns games just don't work on Marty. Some need more ram, some an HD. For instance Little Big Adventure needs a whopping 8mb ram, 10mbHD. Never gonna happen on marty. As to the disks well there are 2 types I think. Some games have boot disks. You need both the cd and the game specific disk to load the game. Samurai Spirits for example. Some games have user disks to save on. I think these are just regular formatted disks, so not game specific. The games that use these fall into 2 types though. Some games will not run unless a user disk is inserted. They'll go to the title screen, or freeze up a bit before. Games like PoP 2 and Ultima Underworld are like this, they don't load unless you have a disk to save on in the system. Other games will run without a user disk present but you'll need it to save. So for instance you can play flashback fine without a disk, but need it to save mid level. Sounds like Alone in the Dark is a game that needs a user disk present before it will run. (like PoP 2)
I think like you but some games comes with an original disk of the game like nadia blue water, I'm not sure, but maybe these disks are just an common disk formated in towns marty with sticker of game and this disk is only used for save game and game doesn't run without him, maybe alone in the dark fits in this case and I don't have the disk How do you use these user disks? I need to format this disk on marty system or I can use an pc disk DOS formatted, let me know
Yea, you can get games that are just on disk. A lot of games came with a disk in the package, so you could save. All had separate stickers of the game that you could put on the disk if you wanted, so you'd know which disk was for which game. Sounds like Nadia is just one of these, but it could be a bootdisk I suppose (ie with game code or loading routines etc)
I feel I should butt in and mention that Little Big Adventure and its sequel, Twinsen's Odyssey, are both amazing games.
I know but about the alone in the dark case, it ask for disk but there's no disk on package and without disk the game doesn't run. A message in japanese appears to put a disk on drive, my question is, Can I use pc disk (formatted in dos) or I will need an marty disk (formatted in fm towns)? I think that marty system have any option to format disks on marty format and use in games that ask for it The disk of nadia is used for save, because when you put it on drive an load save game screen appears, probably alone in the dark ask for disk for save too, I think that message on screen to put disk is the same
