Quick question, i'm sure this won't be a big thread or anything, i just want to know. i'm hearing this for various technological items, such as game consoles supporting music playback, PMPs and Programs. Thank you. cahaz _
I think it stands for Digital rights management and might be already used on files shared on the net so that they cant be copied over and over and used on mp3s and so on.... edit: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_rights_management
Digital Rights Management. More Appropriately, Digital Restrictions Management Its a pretty catch-all term meaning pieces of intellectual property (meaning photos, pictures, software, Music, Videos etc. Pretty much anything non-physical you make) which have limitations placed on their use and sharing. For example, I buy a song from iTunes Music store. I can't let more than 5 computers play that song, and can only bubrn a playlist including it up to 7 times. The DRM is preventing me from doing more (alternatively, I could just burn it to a Cd and copy it back to the computer DRM Free.) www.eff.org are big anti-DRM-sters, if you want more info (albeit rather subjective)
over here we even have a term called 'DRM-damaged' and all music you buy of the net is DRM-damaged ^^
Not quite sure what you mean by that. When you buy a Cd and it (supposedly) can't be ripped to your PC, that is DRM and when you buy a track from the internet which can only be played in particular media players, that is also DRM DRM requires both the files and the software to be compatible with the particular method of DRM.
Windows Vista is going to have some sort of DRM but for media. You'll need a special monitor that has DRM features built in otherwise using a monitor you have now, the display will be fubared.
