So I have a quick question....

    I have a laptop and a desktop.

I want to be able to run my desktop off my laptop monitor. I also want to be able to run my laptop with my desktop keyboard/mouse.

I found a switch on Newegg, but it only allows me to use my desktop monitor, not the laptop one.

Unless your laptop has some sort of VGA-in I don't think it's possible, unless you're an engineer with a TON of time on your hands.

I could very well be wrong, so if anyone more knowledgeable is around feel free to correct me.

You could also use a remote desktop software setup (e.g. VNC) to do what you want.

You can get PCMCIA cards which do video in, usually RGB or scart.

    VNC is the best way.
or if you just want to use your laptop's keyboard/mouse on your desktop like a dual-monitor setup try Synergy

I tried using Synergy but all I got were errors... any other programs that do the same thing?

Thing is, you will need an input device on your laptop to accept a signal coming from your desktop. You can uses programs like LogMeIn and that does it via a web browser over the Internet, but it's no where near having it where you originally intended it to be.
