This guy may or may not be familiar to anyone outside the USA, but I'd imagine he's pretty well known to anyone who follows motor sports, especially drag racing. Sadly, Scott Kalitta was killed in an horrific accident on 21st June 2008 (so, if someone has already posted, I apologise). The accident is still under investigation, however at roughly 300mph his dragster suddenly burst into flames and before his parachute could deploy the car slammed into the concrete retaining wall at the end of the track in a massive fireball. http://www.nhra.com/2008/kalitta/index.html
Nobody in the USA that follows motor sports would admit it. That's tantamount admitting to incest and lynching black people.
Wow? Really? Shit, motorsport in the UK is like a right of passage! You aren't a true male in Britain until you follow Rally or Formula 1. Okay, I exaggerate, but it's big over here as are motorbike related sports. It's second only to soccer.
RIP Scott Kalitta. I was watching the televised race live when it happened....Unbelievable, i haven't seen a wreck as violent as that in many, many years. He'll be missed for sure, as he was one of the best in the series err..i follow Mini 7 for obvious reasons.....and sometimes Nascar NCATS/NSCS for unknown reasons and if you haven't been to a drag racing event, you owe it to yourself to do so. Rare will you see a team of 6 people completely strip and rebuild a race engine in under 30 minutes, then to have it run 300+ mph
R.I.P. Scott Kalitta , even though I have no bloody idea who you were, please don´t take as an offence in your after life. But that is the usual with me. Parris is mentioning a person I have never heard of, and then he goes berserk, on those who have no idea who he or she was.
drag racing...just another sport where you should know what you're doing. just like speedboats, formula 1, superbike etc etc
300 MPH, isn´t that about 500+ kilometres per hour ? correction 300 miles = 483 kilometres per hour. So he smashed the wall driving ..
All down to personal preference mate, I personally enjoy them, but couldn't sit through a cricket match without feeling the overwhelming desire to smash my TV up!
Yeah I saw that weeks ago, the car bursted into flames, then exploded after crossing the finish line I think. And Nascar is just borderline white trash, you dont get to see how bad it gets until you go to a monster truck show.
I live in the South, I think drag racing and any other kind of racing is EXTREMELY boring, and I have no idea who this guy was. Sucks that he died though.
I should've mentioned I don't really like watching any sports. Olympics are all right, and I'll watch the World Cup, Superbowl, and all that shit, but that's about all I could take. I'd rather watch porn, or see people act like children (aka, read web forums).
