I found out today a friend of mine I grew up with died, aged 19. He was in the army on a training exercise in the czech republic when his helicopter crashed. Yes he was in the army and yes death is to be expected - If it was in a warzone under fire it would be more understandable, but on a training exercise .... What is strange for me is I read news of the crash online and thought nothing of it, it's only now that the names have been released and his picture was on the front page of the local newspaper that the reality has set in that he was in that crash and he is dead.
