The only evidence that I have seen that this exists is a brief blurb on the Japanese Wikipedia site and a photo in EGM Issue 4 showing it running on an FM Towns PC. Does anyone know any more about this, or, dare I hope, have a copy of the prototype lying around?
...various sources state that Fatal Fury Special has been confirmed released too. Perhaps I missed it, but I haven't seen anything to indicate this yet. Problem with the marty is that even if you find a game for sale and know it exists, information is so scarce that you may not find anything anywhere else concerning the game.
As far as I know it wasn't released, I've only seen what you've seen. Can't imagine there are any prototypes around tbh!
So true. D-Return is one I'm desperately after lol. FFS does exist, I own it (albeit the picture below is from the auction I won). Oh yeah. Never seen R-Type and don't know a single person who owns it / has ever seen it, and I've been looking into Towns for many years now.
Thanks alot for that pic, glad to see it does exist afterall! D-Return is another game that I have scratched off my list, but still keep an eye out for. Hopefully something comes up on R-Type, unusual that such a high profile game would go unseen for so long, but on the marty I wouldn't be surprised.
wheelaa, i guess that Garou requires the 4 meg expansion, just like Samurai Spirits and Super SF2, and doesnt work on the Marty console, right? (crosses fingers hoping that it works on Marty).
No trace of FM Towns R-Type, just the EGM #4 article, it's the only thing that made anyone question if there was a port of R-Type on the system: It's possible EGM saw the X68000 version which came out around the same time as the FM Towns article was published (late 1989). The X68000 version was real, and that picture could very well be of it. Or perhaps it's the PC-Engine version. Can't tell for sure.
R-Type doesn't exist on FMT. D-Return does exist as I've seen it in the last year and my friend bought it.
LOL, i read ""...it is THE REAL SHIT" ^_^ R - Type x68000 is Arcade perfect ! Only thing that i am missing is a 15khz mode... but hey 31khz looks great !
