    Hi Everyone,

As I know, R-Type for the PCE was distributed on two cards for the Japanese market. One containing the first 4 stages and the other containing the rest.

Was the price of each card cheaper to make up for the spliting of the game, or did they charge full price for both cards (rip off)?

As I know, they were able to get all the stages in one card for the US release, so was that card twise as expensive as the Japanese editions, or were the Japanese gamers just screwed in to paying full price for both cards?

    R-Type US - $69.99
    R-TYPE I - ¥4900
    R-Type II - ¥4900
    R-Type Complete CD - ¥7500

I don't know what the xchange rates at the time where, but yeah looks like it was cheaper in the US.

In the 90's, it was usually under $1/100 yen. Still pricier in Japan, but not by as much as today.

Nice link. Hard to find data more than 5 years old.
Wish I had my time machine.
