A few days ago O3 announced that Radio Allergy (Radirgy in Japan)'s North American release of the gamecube has been cancelled. I had been following this fairly closely over the past few months, and its really a shame to see it canned. O3 is talking about adding it into another game as a compilation on the Wii, but thats up in the air. I'd rant about the game, but I've already done that here: http://retro-spect.ca/?p=6 At the time of writing the above article, the game was still on schedule for release. The copy of the game I have is one of the later builds, marked March 23rd. It underwent a few simple revisions and tweaks afterwards, but was still not published. The game in its final stage was complete, playable, stable, and nearly 100% translated. Still hope for a future release though.
Yeah after all they were putting "Wii Compatible" stickers on it. Seems like O3 was more interested in the Wii than the GC anyway.
makes perfect sense to me in part. GC development is cheaper than Wii. The whole thing could be done (a port) with one GDEV, albeit a modified one for a Wii version.
I have all the systems this game is on so I should import this game for__________ fill in the blank for me
Given your apparent hatred of Sony I would go with the Dreamcast. It's the camp farthest removed from their business model.
I'd go with the NAOMI GD-ROM if you can find it because that's the original. The Dreamcast got an exact port though - but the problem comes in with the PS2 and GC versions, both of which go an extra mode not present in the original - and both of which, have exclusive modes (of course). NAOMI - Standard Dreamcast - Standard PS2 - Standard + Okawari Mode GC - Standard + Manpuku Mode I can't speak from experience as to which additional mode is better though. I'd probably go with the GC version personally, I like the controller better plus you get an extra mode.
Given that Nintendo have killed off the GC like a bad smell and that retailers don't want to give space to GC titles anymore, it wasn't surprising that the game got canned. They should have done the PS2 version at least it might have sold some units...
Problem with that is i don't think O3 has any Playstation 2 development hardware, judging by the fact that they have never released a title for that platform. The GC one will hopefully live on in some form. O3 was talking about bundling it with Karous and possibly Chaos Field on the Wii, but they also toyed around with other ideas.. which I can't really mention without breaking trust For what it was, it was a solid shooter. Not the best mind you, but it was a joy to play. As far as importing it, Stick with the originals (DC or NAOMI). The GC version suffer from slowdown in certain areas due to inadequate sprite-rendering hardware. I have noticed this on both the USA and JPN versions. There might be similar problems with the PS2 version, but I haven't actually tried it.
